The Goal
One of the goals of this artifact was to reflect on my learning. This past week in my graduate school program, we’ve been learning to create performance requirements, the importance of designing performance assessments to evaluate training and the use of job aids to promote learning transfer in the workplace following training.
Another goal was to leave my comfort zone. In the past, I’ve created blog posts to help me deepen my understanding of the material I’m reading in class. This time, I decided to design and create a video and record myself performing the voice over!
I plan to create more videos over the coming weeks using different software. It took a little while to get the hang of Animaker but I thoroughly enjoyed working through the iterations it took to reach this final product.

Process
I began with the end in mind by writing a blurb that helped me focus on the objective of the video and the audience:
Having trouble ensuring your team gets the most out of training? Watch this video for three tips to ensure your coworkers transfer what they learned in training to the workplace.
I then created a rough storyboard with scripts following which I decided on the software to use. This was my first time using Animaker so I played around with the software for a few minutes before finding a short video to watch on YouTube that demonstrated how to use the software.
The free package was a little limited in certain features that I would have liked to use but it was sufficient to use in creating this video. After entering the information in the storyboard into my template, I did some editing.
Finally, I used the voice over feature to record myself as the narrator for the video. I found the AI voice renditions available in the free package unnerving to listen to.
Final Product
The final video is a 2 minute 3 second video that can be be used as a refresher or moment of need reference to remind instructional designers, HR managers and supervisors of the pertinent role performance requirements, assessments and job aids play in enhancing performance in the work place as well as the consequences of not taking advantage of these tools.
