Project Overview
I originally designed this eLearning course in response to a 7taps challenge issued at an ID conference I attended. This iteration is designed in Storyline 360. It is designed specifically for mobile devices.
The challenge:
The challenge was to choose any of the training sessions we had attended as inspiration for designing a course in 7taps. I choose ‘Creating a Scenario Mapping Document’ by Patti Bryant.
I created a self-paced micro lesson from a 30-minute speaker chat that instructs L&D Professionals on how to create mini-scenarios in under 10 minutes.
Design
After gathering relevant information from the video, I decide to make the training more relevant to a specific workplace problem. I decided to design for an instructional designer working with a SME in the car sales industry.

Research and Analysis
My process wasn’t exactly linear. It was at this point I did a bit of research and identified a particular objective I wanted the ID to work with the SME on.
The objective: Given an objective, IDs will work with a SME to create a mini-scenario using a 4-step process.
During the design process, I made the assumption that IDs know how to identify and align training content with training goals and learning objectives.
Design
Patti’s training was designed for IDs to use in creating a scenario-mapping document. it takes the form of a questionnaire that can be emailed to a SME to fill out. I took a different approach and designed the training to offer a systematic process for generating the content for a mini-scenario when interviewing a SME virtually or in person.
In addition, Patti’s training was a 30-minute VILT session. My training is a self-paced eLearning course with a job-aid that learners can download and refer to after training.

Development
Tools: Storyline 360, Canva.
I developed the content in Storyline 360. The training is self-paced and learners can take it as often as they need in order to build the confidence they need to create mini-scenarios for performance support in the workplace.
I followed a pattern of explaining each step, providing questions learners can use to prompt communication with SMEs and a knowledge check at the end of each step that serves to separate the information into manageable chunks for the learner.
Implementation and Evaluation
By the end of the training, learners have built a mini-scenario. Learners are not able to move forward in the training until they pass all knowledge checks as well as the final quiz question.
After successfully completing the training, learners have the option to download a job aid that they can refer to when mapping a scenario.
